HOW LONG DOES A MICROBLADING OR SEMI PERMANENT MAKEUP TREATMENT TAKE?
Both microblading and semi permanent makeup treatments are a 2 step process, generally 5-8 weeks apart. It is extremely important to complete both the initial procedure and the touch up session.
STEP 1: The initial procedure takes approximately 2-3 hours. During this time a consult is done where your desired look is discussed, colour tone is selected and the initial outline is drawn. Once you are happy with the basic shape and symmetry, the area is then traced over and semi-permanent pigment is applied with a manual microblade or hand held machine (depending on desired treatment).
STEP 2: The second stage is the touch up appointment, which takes approximately 1 hour and is included in your service. Touch ups are done no earlier than 5 weeks from the initial appointment and no later than 10 weeks. If you do not schedule a touch up within 10 weeks, you will be required to pay a touch up fee outlined in the pricing schedule.
It is absolutely necessary you complete the touch up session. Without it, results will be less than optimal. Colour will fade significantly within the first month as the skin heals, peels and fades. The touch up corrects any irregularities in the microbladed hair strokes, colour tones and completes the process.
HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?
The pigmentation used in microblading and semi permanent makeup can last between 1-3 years. The pigmentation will begin to fade within 12 months. To keep brows looking full and fresh, a touch up is recommended every 12 to 24 months.
For clients who chose a softer look and or lighter colour shade to initially, more frequent touch ups may be required.
Factors that will cause your microblading or semi permanent makeup to fade faster:
• Iron deficiency
• Sun exposure
• Exposure to salt water
DOES THE TREATMENT HURT?
Every precaution is taken to ensure all procedures are as pain free as possible. A strong topical anaesthetic is applied prior and during the procedure to keep you as comfortable as possible. Some clients find the treatment a little uncomfortable while others report no discomfort at all. Due to bylaws, it is now required that clients purchase their own topical anaesthetic and bring it with them to their treatment on the day. You are able to obtain over the counter topical anaesthetics, such as Emla and LMX4 at most pharmacies. Either of these products will suffice.
*A patch test is required for all treatments no less than 24hrs before the procedure. This can be carried out at your initial consultation*
